The company was founded in 1912 by Leopold Kostal in Lüdenscheid. For the international distribution of PIKO inverters a subsidiary of KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik GmbH, called KOSTAL Solar Electric GmbH, was launched in Freiburg in December 2006. Today, the KOSTAL Group is divided into the 5 business divisions Automotive Electrical Systems, Industrie Elektrik, Connectors, Solar Electric and SOMA Test Technology.
The corporate group employs around 17,075 people at 46 locations in 21 countries worldwide. KOSTAL wants to convince its customers through innovative solutions, high levels of development and technological expertise and a constant level of reliable quality.
